The world through a child's eyes!

I bought this camera for my 5 year old because I was scared to death that he was going to destroy my digital camera that he was so fascinated with. This was the perfect solution to my problem. He had this camera for 30 min before he dropped it on some tile, picked it up and continued to take pictures. My camera would have been in multiple pieces if he would have done that. We now have great pictures of the dog, light switches, rocks, plants and of course, the TV. I highly recommend this item. It keeps my son very entertained and it is great to see the world through a child's eyes!
The best kids cmera~buying our 3rd one!

we have 4 children and have had many "kids" cameras and have thrown many out that did not stand up to the abuse. This camera is the best!!! AND its for all ages. We first got a blue one for our 7 year old who LOVES it! Takes great pics and video and you can watch it all on your TV. Then we got the pink one for our 5 year old because she always wanted his. This Christmas we are now buying a new one for the 2 1/2 yr old who takes their cameras ALL the time and actually takes good pics with this camera. It is so easy and very durable and cute. Definetly a tried lasting kid camera!
DISREGARD the bad reviews. THIS IS A WONDERFUL TOY!

I recently purchased this for my soon to be 5 year old. When it arrived, I took it out of the package and tested it out to see how it performed, and make sure it worked. I had fun with this toy! The pictures are not superior and are similar to those taken by a camera phone. They are not all that crappy, and this version (Kidizoom Plus) upgrades to 2.0 megapixels and has 5 instead of 3 games! I took the picture at night with only a light on and I could see the picture just fine. Yes it was a little dark compared to an adult camera, but visible and should be more so during the day. It must be remembered that this is a toy, and a quality one...it works just fine, and as a real camera. It is NOT a 10-12 megapixel adult camera, so don't expect it to perform like one. The photo editing stamps are great, they are cute and fun. The games and sound are clear and in color. Yes you must stand still to take a clear picture...the camera is only moving with you. Teach your child to stand still, if they can't then they're not quite ready for the camera yet... simple as that. The toy camera is durable and well-made...I highly recommend it! The only way you will be disappointed is if you compare it to a high-end functioning adult camera; and compared to other children's cameras, this one takes the cake! Unless you have introduced your child to a real adult camera with high megapixel quality, they will not be disappointed either! Knowing my son, I have no doubt this will be his favorite Christmas gift!
I love it!!

I bought this camera to give it to my 4 yr old boy this Christmas. When it arrived, it was real easy to take it out of the box. I turned it on and I was very surprised to see the clear display on the camera. The games are easy and fun for kids any age (I enjoyed them myself!). The photo editing feature is also very fun. Now, I'm going to send one to my 5 yr old niece in San Diego, I know she will love it too...
My son feels so grown-up.

This is a great, durable camera. My kindergartener loves being able to take his own pictures and see them right away. It is a little tricky for him to take pictures in focus because the photographer needs to remain still for the longer-than-a-5-year-old-can-remain-perfectly-still shutter speed. However, since it is digital, no harm is done; simply delete fuzzy pictures and try again.
Great camera for a heavy user

This camera was an instant hit with my seven year old with Down syndrome. He was obsessed for the first two days, then just totally attached to taking really random shots and laughing. Now he is better at purposely shooting, but the camera provides tons of entertainment, easily downloads adding even more thrills. Educationally, it's great for fine motor skills and sequencing. It's also almost indestructible and comes with a great company guarantee. I think my husband has as much fun with it as my son does!
Great Camera!!!

I just got this in the mail today. I bought it for my 5 year old daughter (the pink one) as a X-Mas gift. I took it out of the box and started playing with it right away, to test it out. I think this is a great camera. I love it already...even better then my own camera. I know my daughter is going to have so much fun when I give it to her. Plus I got it on sale for $39.99 with free shipping. Well worth it. Maybe now I can play with her camera, to make up for all those times that she took mine...lol
Overall, a great camera and idea for kids. And that "not so happy buyer" on top was for another review, I cant seem to take it off.
Love this camera!

Reviewer: Booktress,
My son (then five) got this camera for Christmas last year and still loves and uses it. I don't know why some reviewers are saying that it does not use rechargeable batteries because ours does and they last a looooong time (sanyo eneloops Sanyo Eneloop 8 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries It only takes four, btw). We've never had a problem with them. The camera is easy to figure out. My son was playing with it in a matter of minutes.

As for the picture quality... No, this isn't going to give you the same pictures as a "real" camera. Most kids couldn't care less. Can you superimpose a funny face over your subject with a real camera? You can with this one. ;)

It holds a ton of pictures and video clips. My son took it on our road trip vacation this fall and took a ton of pictures. We downloaded them when we got home. No, we didn't print any of them. But I haven't printed any of mine, either.
Awesome first camera for little ones!

So I am a stickler for reading reviews, so I thought I would write one. I bought this camera (in pink) for my 2 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it! I always take her gifts out of their boxes, make sure they are put together and have batteries so that they are ready to go for when she unwraps them. Her presents don't look very pretty when they are wrapped, but who cares? There is no waiting for mommy or daddy to open the gift, put it together, find batteries and then figure out how to use the thing. I liked the games and the fact that you can change your pictures. You can add borders or stamps or special effects before or AFTER you take a picture. I love the flash option- it helps take better pictures in hands that cannot hold still. The games are cute- a little too old for my daughter, but she's younger than the recommended age range. The camera is not too big or too heavy that she can't hold it easily, and the binocular-like viewer is nice. She doesn't quite have the coordination yet to use the LCD screen. It has plenty of internal memory (256mb) and can hold a couple hundred photos at the 2mb setting. So if you don't want to spend the extra money on a memory card, it's not necessary. It comes with video cables so that your child can see his/her pictures on the TV and the camera has a cute slide show option. Even at 2 1/2, my daughter has actually taken some pretty good pictures and I love seeing the world from her perspective... even if she uses me as her subject and instructs me to put my arms up, show my feet, stick out my tongue, etc. The camera has been dropped, sat on, left on the floor, kicked, and it still works great. Regular batteries last a long time.
Great kids camera

I hestitated when buying this due to some reviews about the camera taking blurred pictures, but really, it's for kids. Kids don't stand still and my 3 year old son really doesn't care if his pictures are crystal clear, he just likes taking pictures. I would recommend this one to anyone. There's a ton of different things to do - games, photo editing, movies, and stuff that we haven't even gotten into yet on the computer. It's pretty durable (hasn't broken yet!), pretty easy to use and the double viewfinder is great.
unbelievable

If you are considering a digital camera for a young child THIS IS THE ONE. It is a great toy. It is a camera. All photoshop fun can be done right on the camera - stickers and sound. Then you can video. Add borders and other sounds. When you are bored with that you can play the games. The camera is super durable from dropping in the snow, to leaving in the hot car, to dropping on a stone floor... It keeps on working. This toy is the best and very easy to use. Have fun with this one.
My Autistic son discovered his artistic side

I have an Autistic son that didn't have any imaginative play. Well, up until we bought him this. He actually creates videos with this as if he is a film maker. He sets up props and films his toys as if it was a Hollywood movie. I bought him an SD card so that he can take more videos. He also loved the games and the Photo editing features. This is the first time I have seen his creative side. He loves it and so do I.

purchased for my grandson as a Xmas gift. He's 3, but very into cameras and all kinds of tech things. He loves it! Now we just need to figure out all that it does! Very durable, kid friendly--I did some research and it was recommended. It's really nice because he can grab it and take pictures anytime he wants. Even the 18 month old is wanting to get into the act! He likes pushing the button and we don't have to worry if it gets dropped.
A well loved camera in our home.

I bought this camera for my 5 year old who did happen to "break" the last camera he had. This one is a dream come true. It has been dropped and kicked with no problem at all. And unlike others we have had no issue with battery drain as long as we use "copper top" batteries. This camera was bought at Christmas of 2009 and have changed the batteries once as of this post. My older child loves the games on this camera too. It gets used nearly every day. A great buy. I consider this one of the best investments we made this past Christmas.

This was awesome. My 3 1/2 year old nephew loved it. He had so much fun taking pictures then seeing them on the camera right away. I would recomend this camera to everyone.

My kids are 1 and 3. They love this toy. We tried other cameras and there is no comparison. This is the best kid camera on the market. It's durable, the pictures are clear, and it does so much! I am going to buy one for my nephew for Christmas.
Great toy

We bought this for our 3 year old and he LOVES it. Even my older children loved playing with the other features and taking silly pictures. My 3 year old managed to take some good pictures even though he doesn't always pay a lot of attention. I am thinking about buying another one for my 6 year old.
Great kids digicam!

I purchased this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. I had gotten him a Disney videocam, which he loved for the 30 minutes he used it until he dropped it and it broke. This is the replacement and I am delighted with it.

It is a very well designed camera for children. The grips are rubberized and just the right shape for a child's hands. It features dual optical view finders - like the old Viewmaster toys. The LCD screen is clear and easy to see. The buttons are well placed - no accidental pushing of the wrong button. If your child has any computer experience, they can figure out the on-screen photo editing themselves. If not, you will need to show them how to use it once or twice, but it is easy for a child to use. My son loves adding the picture frames and the funny "accessories" to the faces in his pictures. It takes 4 AA batteries - 2 in the bottom of each hand grip.

As mentioned before, it is not a high-res camera, but it is certainly clear enough for your child to learn to take pictures and be pleased with the results. If your child moves, the picture is blurry. If the subject moves, the picture is blurry. (That's the way camera's work! LOL) But it is relatively easy to take a clear picture and the blurry ones are easily deleted. The best feature of this camera is it's ruggedness, in my opinion. It will take being dropped and keep working fine. You can hand it to your child and let them go!
Son LOVES it!

My 5 year old son has been wanting to use my camera for months now. I was afraid of how rough he would be with it, so I bought him this one for Christmas. It is one of his favorite gifts. The picture is great if you remember that this is just a toy and aren't expecting it to be as good an adult's camera. The games and the way that you can add things and manipulate the pictures are a lot of fun too! I got this on sale for $40 on amazon and overall, I would say that this is one of the best toy purchases I have made in awhile.
I agree with the other person who said disregard bad reviews!!

I was so scared to get this camera for my 4 year old daughter because of the reviews I was reading. I was concerned that it wasn't going to be a 2.0 megapixels and that every photo was going to be bright and blurry. IT IS A 2.0 MEGAPIXEL (there is a setting in the tools to change it to the 0.3 mode). I am impressed with the 2.0 quality!!! Now mind you it is a child's digital camera and like the other person said you shouldn't even think of comparing it to an adult's. My daughter has had it for 24 hours and so far has taken a variety of different quality photos. Some are great and some are blurry. I am using the camera to teach her about photography, so she learns to be conscience of being still while holding the camera and taking a picture. But she is 4 years old and thinks a blurry photo is great!! We have already uploaded the photos she's taken to Facebook and they are fine quality for viewing. It's not really too complicated for her to use even though there are a lot of buttons. If she was 3 yrs. old I'd say she wouldn't be able to figure it out, but she quickly figured out where to find the games mode and has been playing them like crazy!! All she needed was one lesson on what the buttons do and she was on her way competent to use the camera all on her own. I LOVE THIS CAMERA! I am playing with this camera a lot myself because it is tons of fun!! We made my daughter a pirate like the sample photos. I can't believe how much it costs now!!! I got it for $10 or $20 less and it was a great buy compared to the Fisher Price, which had worse reviews than this camera.

Don't be afraid!! BUY THIS CAMERA!! You won't regret it :)
